Get Involved

If you’d like to be part of our mission of informing and connecting people to strengthen the local green community, we’d love to have you get involved!

GOC’s main goal is to help connect the public to sustainability-related opportunities. We do this through events, marketing, and creating community resources. Most of our volunteer opportunities are virtual and remote.

Volunteer Opportunities

GOC is a volunteer-run organization. Volunteers carry out our mission and are a part of every aspect of the GOC!

We’re always looking for volunteers with experience or an interest in marketing, writing, fundraising, research, and event planning. You don’t have to have a background in sustainability - you just have to have a desire to contribute!

If that’s you, learn more about our volunteer opportunities below. If you would like to partner with the GOC or have a special project you’d like to work on, please email us.

Join a Committee

Want to become more of a regular volunteer with the Green Omaha Coalition? Consider joining a committee! Below are three committees that are available to join with some examples of the kinds of work and projects each does.

  • Help plan GOC events like our Sustainability Rapid Roundtable, Film Festival, Earth Day Omaha and more, develop resources to help educate, connect, and promote the green community, assist with advocacy and awareness campaigns.

  • If you’re between the ages of 15 – 25 years old and would like to help make an environmental impact within our city, we’d love to have you join our committee. If you’re already part of an environmental group, let us know what you’re up to so we can all keep connected!

  • Help identify and write grants, foster relationships with sponsors, members, and partners, plan fundraiser events, acquire auction donations, coordinate and plan membership events.

  • Becoming a board member of any organization is a great opportunity to gain professional experience and learn how nonprofits operate while serving a cause you care about! Consider becoming a GOC board member. New board member terms start in January yearly, and board member interviews begin in September. Learn more and apply here.
